FWIW: The official stylus is typically guranteed to work and w/o “skips” that can occur with “COMPATIBLE” styli either from Wacom or Targus.

A basic stylus from a PDA isn’t a reliable nor likely even working replacement since the stylus has to contain a compatible serial diode and explains some of the shocking costs.

Most Thinkpad Styli are backwards and forwards compatible with other Thinkpad’s starting from X41t’s to the latest x200’s.

All Thinkpad styli are manufactured soley by Wacom which is a primary contributor of the compatibility which would be endangered if adopting other pens for other tablets or from different manufacturers.

Interestingly, the Wacom Bamboo works nicely and w/o the skips and stutters from unsutiable styluses and it fits snug into your X4 / X6 tablets even best when inserted backwards which avoids risking that annoying stuck stylus that many owners seem to experience.

This piece is amazing. Setting your computer on an economical power plan in the power options will give you power for 6.5 to 7 hours on full charge! I use the Edison power software downloaded from Microsoft’s website and I have between 5.5 to 6.5.

The only potential cons of this 8-cell battery are additional weight and space; spatially, the battery sticks out almost exactly 1″ more than the 4-cell battery–as others have mentioned, this really does make a nicer handle than with the 4-cell (the top and bottom are even partially covered with rubber for better grip while holding).

While it does weigh more (I think about a pound), it is of little practical import, especially when balanced against the enormous gain in battery life–my tablet went from about a 1 1/2 to 2 hour charge up to a 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hour charge. I only notice a bit when I’m carrying my X61 tablet around that it’s a bit heavier (I don’t find it bothersome at all), but I feel so much more free to do so knowing that I can get an honest multi-hour session out of it.

It worked well while it lasted.

Died on me suddenly, shortly after the 1st year of warranty.

The extended warranty for 3 years was purchased with the laptop, however, Lenovo claims that the extended warranty does not apply to batteries!
Nor will they test my computer to see if the adapter or computer was at fault.

After many disappointments (other than this one) with Lenovo’s service and products, I say no more.

I already had a 4-cell Li-Ion battery for the X61 tablet. Bought this one to provide extended battery for my daily work. It can hold up to 5+ hours. Lenovo also has this great feature where in Control Panel-> power management->battery information, you can set your batteries not to start recharging when the power cable is plugged until the remaining charge is less than some value you set (I set it to 50%). Instead of fequently recharging from 9X% to 100%, this feature can save a lot of battery recharging cycles, and supposedly enlonger the battery life. Overall, I am glad with both of my batteries, and the tablet itself too.
